Amurabi, legal design agency

Join Amurabi & Fair Patterns – We’re Hiring a Senior Project Manager in Legal Innovation

What’s the opportunity?

Amurabi and Fair Patterns are at the forefront of fairness by design: translating regulatory constraints into a trustworthy and empowering user experience. Our common mission is to empower users to make their own, free, and informed choices.
Fair Patterns is a B2B AI solution that finds and fixes dark patterns at scale. Our AI solution includes scanning websites and apps, scanning cookie banner code and UI, and an AI agent that helps designers avoid creating new dark patterns.

Amurabi is an award-winning legal innovation studio, making legal documents and processes accessible to all. Our work includes creating:

  • Fair terms: contracts humans want to read and easily understand
  • Fair compliance programs that trigger users’ ethical monitor and create ownership
  • Legal platforms or apps solving users’ problems
  • Legal processes and services that make users love their lawyers
  • Litigation design that limits judges’ cognitive load and conveys complex messages efficiently

Our projects and products all have a strong focus on data privacy, and we also specialize in designing legal information for minors.

We serve innovative scaleups and Fortune 500 groups in the EU, the UK, and the US, and have plans to grow in other regions. Our current clients include a global leading AI provider, HP, Bumble, Danone, the French Ministry of Justice, King, and leading law firms such as Bird & Bird.

As our project manager is heading back to the US, we’re looking for a new senior project manager, full-time, in hybrid mode with offices in Paris.

What will you be doing?

Working with a wide variety of team members, you will be at the heart of the team, in charge of running impactful projects from end to end:

  • Pitching projects: analyzing prospects’ needs to determine how we can best address them within the range of services and products we offer
  • Running projects: from kick-off to delivery, you will be the client’s main point of contact to ensure our projects are not “just” a success, but also a powerful and enjoyable experience. It’s not just about the destination, but also about the journey!
  • Coordinate a talented team: to bring the project to life, you have a 360 vision and are in charge of ensuring that each team member (lawyers, designers, developers, neuroscience experts) can bring out their best throughout the project.
  • Help facilitate user workshops: our approach to law is user-centric, and we always run user workshops or user interviews as the first step to truly understand their needs and pain points. With our user researcher, you will help prepare the workshops and co-facilitate them with designers.
  • Support for the commercial strategy, by pitching efficiently, taking care of our network so it can grow, and overall contributing to our positive, systemic impact.
  • Project management also includes organizational tasks: taking care of our registration as vendors to our clients, invoicing, and monitoring time and budget
  • Depending on your profile, you could also help mentor junior members of the team in the legal and plain language fields.

Direct client exposure is a key part of this role.

This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to cutting-edge AI and human-centric innovation!

Could it be you?

We’re looking for a senior project manager with a minimum of 3 years of experience in innovation agencies or start-ups:

  • rigorous and meticulous, while being able to see the bigger picture
  • solution-oriented, thriving in continuous improvement,t and creating a great client experience
  • self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit, can-do attitude
  • team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • tech literate and comfortable in learning new ways of working
  • curious about fairness by design, data privacy, and access to justice – no specific knowledge required, but curiosity is indispensable

  • fluent in English (for real, most of our work is in English) and French
  • ideally familiar with user-centricity and design methodology

A legal background, especially in privacy, or a plain language background in addition to these skills would be a clear plus, but is not required.

What about the team?

We’re a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of AI technologists and ethicists, designers, lawyers, experts in neurosciences, and user researchers, all passionate about human-centric, AI-powered legal innovation. We are all self-starters and doers, driven by our purpose to bridge the gap between the law and its users, thus strengthening democracies.

What’s the process?

The first step will be a video interview with our HR manager, then a case study, an interview with our CEO, and a cultural fit virtual coffee with the team.
